How to increase website traffic
Read and Comment. Check out sites related to your niche and learn from them. Don’t copy material, but if you see something that truly interests you then leave a comment. When I say comment I don’t just mean “Hey nice site”. A comment like that just looks like you are trying to promote yourself. Leave a comment like “That article you wrote on ways to save money was great. Personally I like to save money by…” Leaving comments and communicating in other forums can get you noticed. Chances are if you leave good reviews about a site they may do the same for you.
Update Regularly. Try to post at a consistent pace. If you post everyday then great but don’t suddenly drop off the face of the earth and stop posting for two weeks. If you keep content up-to-date then people will see you truly care about what you write and that you put your own time into your site. If people see that you have stopped writing chances are they will stop coming and look for another site.
Use catchy titles. When people come across your website the first thing they will see is probably the titles to your articles. Keep your titles short but interesting also, try to include keywords in your title.
Sign up for RSS services. Let people keep up-to-date with your website.
List your site in directories. Look for people in your niche and ask them to link to you and in return you will link to them.
Give away free stuff and have contests. What person doesn’t like free stuff? For example you can run a contest where readers have to write an article reviewing your site and the winner will get a gift card.
Get listed in search engines. Submit your site to popular search engines; Google, yahoo, msn.

Read and Comment
By Dave on October 30, 2008
One of the simplest ways to increase your websites traffic is to read and comment on other blogs in your niche. Find blogs that you are sincerely interested in and look at how their site is laid out and the content they have. Don’t copy from them, but learn from them. If you see a post you relate to leave a comment and maybe some suggestions. Also pay attention to what information blogs or sites in your niche haven’t covered in depth or at all and consider writing a post for yourself. You want to write about things people can relate to but you also want to try to be different to catch their interest.
By commenting and following other people’s sites you open many doors for yourself. Leaving legitimate questions or comments allows you to gain some free exposure. Chances are the person whose post you commented on will come and visit your site to see what you are all about. Also if the site has numerous followers you may be able to get traffic from them. They may see your comments and want to take a look at your site since it may be what they are interested in.
